ASCII Tools (2021), part of COSMOS application

ASCII Tools

ASCII Tools (CP/M-80) are a set of tools for programmers and code developers, who want to have their source codes consolidated into individual ASCII files stored in the CPC6128. ASCII Tools have been under development since 1988 by KSL. The main task was to create a set of tools in order to deal with very large source code ASCII files, that were transferred from Windows or MS-DOS Systems to the CPC6128 and vise versa. The virgin name of the software was CPC-WRITE.

In 2004, the first simple version of ASCII Tools for CP/M plus was presented at the CPC Meeting II organized by TFM.

The latest version of ASCII Tools for CP/M 2.2 has been included in COSMOS application in 2021.

In 2026-2027 a new version will be released for CP/M plus. It will be able to depict ASCII text and GSX Graphics simulatneously on the screen and it will be possible to display very large text files using the page switching technique based on the extra RAM expansion or the Floppy/Hard Disk.
