The idea behind those parties was to create an entire demo from scratch in three days time.

The name MC-Paddy stands for MC (Machine Code) Paddy (Party) and was to be understood as a bit of a programming marathon.

Some remarks to the different parts:

Asterix's part contains multiple scrolls with all different speeds. It was at the
time the first one to create so many different scrolls with differents speeds.

TMP's part contained three interesting features. First of all the sinus scroll at the
top. This idea was perfected later on by others adding a mouvement into the sinus curve.
The second part is the vertical scaled raster bars. TMP was one of the first ones
to implement this effect at the time.
The third feature being the big fat jumping hardware scroll below the bars.
And last but not least the big sprite on the bottom. Interesting was especially
the smooth mouvement of it.

Warlock's part, once again very colourful contained two very interesting features.
First the smooth upscroll which was a new thing on the scene at the time.
And the never equalled genius effect in the middle: The coloured rasters in the
middle.
The spectacular thing about it is that it contains many more colour tones than
the CPC was able to display at the time.

== Biography ==

Asterix was the older brother of [[TMP]].
This Swiss demomaker started programming in BASIC when his father offered him and his brother
a CPC 464 (yeah, the one with the cassette player).
After a while he started programming little line of Assembler using the BASIC commands
PEEK and POKE. Pretty soon he little brother TMP (thirteen years old at the time)
convinced him to use an Assembler editor. From then on the two brothers and their local
CPC mate [[Warlock]] started with some serious demomaking.
Beside his two Swiss mates he had an excellent contact to the Danish grand-father of
the scene [[JLCS]] (long live Lasse Pladsen and Rolroed med Floede !) and the Austrian
programming prodigy [[Elmsoft]].
Elmsoft and Asterix made one of their first demos together and called it
[[TwinBlast Demo]].
JLCS later on helped founding the group [[UNiX]] the Swiss trio.
